A Show in Good Hands
Challenge
Broederliefde is a Dutch rap group from Rotterdam, Netherlands, known for their mix of hip-hop, Afrobeat, and Caribbean influences. Their music is known for their energetic performances, multicultural influences, and feel-good summer anthems.
For us, that meant designing the 1000th show to be a groundbreaking event in Ahoy, and our design choices had to impress on the big stages as well as the smaller ones on their following tour.
Departments
01. Brief
Create an iconic show that mixes urban and electronic influences, that could seamlessly adapt to both small clubs and massive festival stages. Lighting and visuals should be both impactful and minimalistic. It had to look amazing from every angle, with set, visuals, and show direction coming together for a show that’s energetic, impressive, yet clean.

02. Designer insights
“I looked at the Logo of Broederliefde, which is two fists clenched together. The group has five members, how a hand has five fingers, so I envisioned this big hand in the stage design. We luckily find a solution we could use and it worked perfectly!”

03. Concept
The concept revolves around a giant hand, symbolizing Broederliefde’s five members—each finger distinct, yet part of a unified force. Levitating over the venue, it embodies their message of connection and community.
At the center, rock-textured platforms anchor the group while creating a dynamic space for movement. Their raw form contrasts with the fluid lines of the hand, balancing nature and structure.
Lighting is stripped back to keep the focus on the centerpiece. Strategically placed, it enhances the energy without distraction. Inspired by electronic events, lights and lasers infuse the show with an urban, high-energy feel. All the show elements — lighting, set, visuals, and pyro — work in sync to amplify Broederliefde’s presence, turning any stage into an unforgettable experience.
