Scales, Lights and Infinite Nights

Challenge

The Chinese Forever Club wanted to become a statement. Located in the Wuhan Tiandi district, this 5,000-square-meter venue was designed to redefine nightlife in the city, featuring a main hall for 2,000 guests.

Capturing forever in design and branding meant creating a futuristic space in constant motion. Furthermore, the club’s identity revolved around the Ouroboros—an ancient snake symbol of eternity and continuous evolution. This concept had to be more than visual. It shaped the architecture, guided the lighting, and defined the atmosphere seamlessly.

01. Brief

Our task was to design a club and branding concept that embodied the idea of "forever", while setting a new standard for nightlife experiences. The space needed to feel dynamic, adaptable, and futuristic - capable of transporting guests through different settings, from deep underwater to the vastness of space. Every element had to work together to create an environment that felt boundless, always evolving, and distinctly different from anything else.

02. Designer insights

“What I like most about the design are the snakeskin-like scales. During the design process, I didn’t think it was something we could pull off—too complicated, too expensive. But the client just made it happen, and now it feels like this almost living object, constantly evolving with the vibe of the space.”

03. Concept

The main hall was designed as an ever-evolving space, inspired by the movement and form of a snake. Fluid, curving lines shape the interior, creating a sense of organic motion. The ceiling features a kinetic lighting installation, where floating, crystalline chandeliers, inspired by snake eggs, shift and reflect light like reptilian scales. This creates a mesmerizing effect, as the ceiling itself appears to breathe and transform, immersing guests in an environment that constantly evolves.

The blend of Art Deco and Gothic influences is woven throughout the space. Art Deco’s geometric patterns and sleek elegance contrast with the dramatic arches and intricate detailing of Gothic design, resulting in an atmosphere that is both luxurious and imposing. Paired with futuristic lighting, the club strikes a balance between classic refinement and innovation.
