Fulfilling the final prophecy
Challenge
Qlimax was the ultimate hardstyle festival. Massive beats, stunning visuals and groundbreaking stage design combined to create a complete experience. Hosted in the Netherlands for the last 24 years, this edition was the finale for fans of the harder styles around the world.
For this project it was all hands on deck, to create nearly an hour of timecode visuals for 17 shows - a massive leap from the usual 6 to 9 - and VJ all night to make the last edition of Qlimax exceptional.

01. Brief
For the 17 shows we needed to craft unique visuals, ensuring no content was repeated throughout the night. Every show, referencing earlier editions of the hardcore event, needed to have its own distinct feeling, merging with music, lights, lasers and moving stage elements. Splitting the VJ duties - one for timecode content and one for live visuals - allows us to deliver both precision and spontaneity at the highest level.

02. Designer insights
Over the years, we've grown deeply attached to Qlimax, so every discipline brought their A-Game and an all-or-nothing energy. It's a bittersweet goodbye, but we're also looking ahead with excitement, knowing we closed this chapter with a bang.

03. Concept
The last edition of Qlimax was a tribute to it's 24-year legacy. Each show paid homage to previous editions, layering nostalgia with the present. Our relentless commitment to originality ensured that not a single piece of content was recycled – each frame was crafted specifically for the show it accompanied. Together with the most LED ever used at a Qlimax event, our VJs had a field trip.
One tool essential for this task was TouchDesigner. Evolving an existing patch this tool gave us the power to synchronize visuals, lights, and lasers with the events intricate stage design. We were able to target lights and lasers onto moving stage parts, seamlessly blending all the disciplines into a single, cohesive show element.
This truly was an all-hands-on-deck effort. Every creative in the studio poured their talent into making this vision a reality, channelling their expertise into a staggering spectacle, worth of closing this chapter.
